History

Model Academy Sagra was established in 1999 in the village of Sagra in Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch District Jammu & Kashmir as part of a civic cation initiative to improve education access in the rural border area. Originally started to serve local education with primary-level education, the school was later adopted by the Indian Army 2003 under its community support and goodwill efforts. It began functioning up to class V and was progressively upgraded to Class VIII, reflecting both community demand and support from the Army and other stakeholders. The institute provides co-educational schooling and is managed locally in coordination with Army units stationed in the region. It has played an important role in delivering basic education to Children in Sagra and neighbouring hamlets, often participating in community and cultural events such as Republic day celebrations and inter school activities. Model Academy Sagra was administered by the LC battalion of HQ 25 Inf Div and was transferred to HQ CIF (R) on 08 Mar 2021.

Over the years, Model Academy Sagra has become a key education centre in the rural landscape of Mendhar, helping increase literacy and contribute to social development.
